Yes that is a lot of dogs! Is it too many for 2 people to look after? No. Do they take up the entire of our lives? Yes.
Our lives revolve around our dogs. Although more recently our lives have taken a turn and we have quit breeding Irish Wolfhounds (for now). We now only have 7 Irish Wolfhounds and we have 6 Toy Breeds. We have had one Griffon litter and fingers crossed in the future we may get a litter from Nettle our Chihuahua, this will be to add to our mini pack and we have already provisionally picked the Stud Dog! Hopefully Nettle only has a couple of puppies so I can keep them both and avoid the awful task of finding good homes with lovely people.
We currently only have one Irish Wolfhound that we take to shows, Cactus, our Slovakian import and father to our last litter. We kept South from the last litter, not because we could show him but because his temperament was questionable and we did not want him going to a home that could not handle him, we did not want him being rehomed due to his temperament. Thankfully one of or last litter does go to some shows and is doing well. The other 2 boys from our last litter have the most amazing temperaments and are thriving in pet homes. Not keeping a show potential puppy from the last litter means we sacrificed having a show standard puppy but as responsible breeders it felt like the right thing to do and we are taking some time in the near future to experience life a little more, go do some travelling and that is not possible with the amount of giant breed dogs we had
