Charlotte our Senior Nutritionist applies her knowledge of animal biology and nutrition to help us create recipes using only the most beneficial raw materials. Each recipe then goes through strict testing, trialing, analysis and quality control, before going into production. Ensuring we stand by our promise to bring you the finest Dog & Cat Food.
Bespoke Cooking Conditions
Our approach to cooking fresh meat, fish and raw materials is ‘low and slow’. Even with low temperature, research has shown we can dramatically affect the palatability of kibbles depending on the duration of cooking.

Our expert nutritionists continue to refine the times and temperatures for each specific meat, fish and raw materials, aiming to provide the finest most nutritious, palatable kibbles for pets to enjoy.

The Science bit…
How does it work?
Ingredients are gently mixed in the High-Intensity Pre-Conditioner by two independently driven shafts, which allows steam to be ‘folded’ into the product.
Angled steam ports in the extruder barrel orientated in the direction of the material flow, along with a unique screw profile allow further steam to be mixed in.
Using 4x more thermal energy and half to one-quarter of the mechanical energy of other twin-screw machines, a much less aggressive cooking process preserves the digestibility of proteins.

Manufacturing efficiencies all help to reduce energy use and costs, reducing our carbon footprint. Benefiting the environment and reducing manufacturing costs, therefore reducing the price for our Customers without compromising on quality.
Packing, Quality Control & Dispatch
Each bag is individually laser coded then he bags are filled using our specialist weight control system. Once filled the bags go to be sealed and pass under a metal detector to check for foreign bodies. When sealed, thermal imagery is used to inspect the seals integrity. Each bag is then re-weighed and passes through an xray system for one last check that the bag contains no foreign bodies or metal objects, after this each bag is photographed and placed on a pallet where it begins its journey to Austonley’s Distribution Centre.

How do Freshly Prepared products offer better health & wellbeing?

Why does Freshly Prepared increase digestibility?
Freshly prepared meats are gently cooked at 90c. This gentle cooking process protects the nutrients therefore allowing the pet to have optimal nutrient bio-availability. Gently cooking the food means nutrients, such as proteins, stay intact rather than them being denatured when subject to extremely high cooking temperatures. This means more proteins are readily available and can be easily digested resulting in less waste.
